Piccadilly Line (TS)

Has two branches in the west that split at Acton Town one of which serves Heathrow and the other being Uxbridge, and Cockfosters in the east. It shares tracks with the Metropolitan Line between Uxbridge and Raynors Lane, and runs parellel to District Line tracks between Acton Town and Barons Court, and Acton Town to Ealing Common on the Uxbridge Branch. From Barons Court to South Kensington it runs under District Line before crossing London central area in a north easterly direction to Holborn then north to Kings Cross and beyond to Cockfosters. The sections to Hounslow and South Harrow were orignally run by District Line but taken over by Piccadilly in the early 1930s when the extensions to Uxbridge and quadrupuling of track to Northfields complete (quad tracks between Acton Town and Barons Court completed early 1900's). The Hounslow branch was extended to Heathrow in the 1970s and extended to terminal 4 in early 1980s and terminal 5 in 2008. Currently, 1973 Tube Stock of six car sets run on the line, originally unpainted aluminium, but upgraded to the standard London Underground colours in a refurbishment program from 1995 to 2000. Previously, standard stock (192 to 1934) 1938 and 1959 stock ran on the line. Depots are at Cockfosters and Northfields. The original Piccadilly depot was Lillie Bridge until Cockfosters depot was opened. Crossovers connect Piccadilly with the Northern Line Bank branch at King's Cross, and with the Victoria Line at Finsbury Park. During disruptions, Piccadilly trains can be diverted to District Line tracks between Acton Town and Hammersmith.
